What virtual phone numbers are, how they work, what they cost, and the honest answer on WhatsApp and the sites that reject virtual numbers. If yours is not here, the contact page reaches a person.

The basics

What are virtual phone numbers?
A virtual phone number is a real phone number that is not tied to a SIM card in a physical phone. It lives on a carrier network like any other number, but calls and SMS are delivered to you over the internet: to an app, a web inbox, or forwarded to a phone you already own. You rent it by the month and keep it for as long as you pay for it.
How do virtual phone numbers work?
The number is hosted by a licensed carrier in its country. When someone texts or calls it, the carrier hands the message or call to our platform, and we deliver it to you in seconds, whether that is a verification code from an app, a WhatsApp registration call, or a customer calling your business line. Outbound calls and SMS work the same way in reverse, so the other side sees your virtual number as the caller ID.
How to set up virtual phone numbers?
Pick a country and a number type (mobile, VoIP or local), choose a term, and tell us what the number is for. We provision it, usually within one business day, and send you access by email. From there you can read SMS in the dashboard, forward calls to your mobile, or register the number on WhatsApp, Telegram or any app that asks for a phone number. No hardware and no SIM are involved.
What is the cost of virtual numbers?
Prices start at $9.99 per month for US, UK and Canada numbers and vary by country and number type: mobile numbers cost more than VoIP numbers because they pass stricter carrier checks, and some markets, such as the UAE and Bahrain, are priced higher because supply is limited. Three-month and yearly terms are discounted. There are no setup fees, and you can cancel at the end of any term.

Apps and verification

Does WhatsApp allow virtual numbers?
Yes, as long as the number can receive WhatsApp's SMS or voice verification and is not on a range WhatsApp has flagged. WhatsApp rejects many VoIP ranges, which is why we recommend a mobile virtual number for WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business. Register the number on one account only, keep the rental active, and the account stays verified for as long as you hold the number.
Why do some sites reject virtual numbers?
Most sites look up the number's carrier type before sending a code. If the lookup returns VoIP, or the number sits on a range that has been used for mass sign-ups, the site refuses it. Numbers rented for one-time codes get recycled fast, which is how whole ranges end up flagged. Long-term mobile numbers from licensed carriers avoid both problems, which is why we only rent numbers for a month or longer and never resell a number the day after it is released.
Can I use a virtual number for Telegram?
Yes. Telegram verifies new accounts with an SMS code or a call, and both are delivered to your virtual number. Pick a mobile number if you plan to keep the account for a long time, and keep the rental active so you can receive login codes when you sign in on a new device.
Will the number receive codes from banks and other apps?
Most apps and services deliver codes to our numbers without issue, including the common ones: Google, Telegram, WhatsApp, marketplaces, delivery apps and social networks. A few banks and government services only accept numbers registered in your own name, and we cannot promise delivery from those. If a specific service matters to you, tell us before you order and we will say honestly whether it works.

Numbers and countries

Which countries do you cover?
Twenty-two countries today, across the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East: the USA, UK, Canada, India, the UAE, Australia, Hong Kong, Brazil, Germany, Singapore, Hungary, Denmark, the Philippines, France, Indonesia, Bahrain, Japan, Israel, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Korea and Sweden. The international virtual numbers page lists every one with its dial code and the number types available.
What is the difference between mobile, VoIP and local numbers?
A mobile number sits on a mobile carrier range and passes the carrier checks that apps run, so it is the best choice for WhatsApp, Telegram and verification. A VoIP number is cheaper, supports calls and SMS over the internet, and suits business lines and customer support. A local number carries a city area code, for example a London 020 or a New York 212 number, so customers see a familiar local presence.
Can I choose the city or area code?
In countries where we offer local numbers, yes: tell us the city when you order and we will provision a number in that area code where stock allows. For mobile numbers, the number is national and has no city prefix.
Can I keep the same number for years?
Yes. That is the point of a long-term rental. The number stays yours for as long as the rental is active, and yearly terms renew on the same number. We do not swap numbers between customers mid-term.

Billing and support

What rental terms do you offer?
Monthly, three-month and twelve-month terms. Longer terms are cheaper per month and renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date. Every term covers unlimited inbound SMS; calling and outbound SMS are billed per use in countries that support them.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at the end of any term, free of charge. Cancel from the dashboard or by emailing support and the number is released when the current term ends. We do not refund unused months of a prepaid term.
Do you offer free virtual numbers?
No. Free numbers are shared inboxes that anyone can read, which is exactly what gets ranges blocked by apps. Every number we rent is private to one customer. If you want to test the service first, start with a single monthly number and cancel if it does not do the job.
Do you work with businesses and teams?
Yes. Businesses can rent several numbers in several countries on one account, share the inbox with team members, and receive one monthly invoice. For ten or more numbers, contact us for volume pricing.
